![]() (I did lock my keys in the car again but I did not need a tow truck this time) ![]() I came up with an "simple idea" on what to do the next time I potentially lock my keys in the Camry again. I eventually ended up touch-up painting the scratches I put on the A-Piller while living with the dents I made. I ended up calling a tow truck that came within the hour, he went to my door, thirty seconds later my door was unlocked, one minute later I gave him $45 - $60 and he left. Then pissed him off again the next morning (they don't work on Sunday's). So I gave up and pissed off a locksmith that night. After damaging the Front Right A-Piller and bending the door so I gave up and moved to the Front Left and only ended up damaging the A-Piller and only touching the unlock button with the aluminium except the issue was that it was thin aluminium so it did not have enough mass to push on the button. I was able to find something to wedge between the door and had a flimsy piece of screen door aluminium to poke the unlock button. How Do I Know?: I went up to Wausau (about three hours from Milwaukee) and I accidentally left my keys in my Camry. the fastest way of getting your vehicle unlocked if you locked your keys inside is to either call a tow truck (or the police) because they will probably do it in less than sixty seconds compared to the one hour it will take you to almost barely unlock the door. I guess it's true what the say - locks only keep the honest people out.įun Fact: Unless you are. I was surprised how easily anyone could get into the locked trunk though and if the car had the option to fold the rear seat backs from the trunk I could have easily gotten in the entire car. I ended up calling the local police who showed up in minutes and got in the car in no time. However, I was disappointed to find that my daughter's Corolla did not have the option to fold the rear seats from the trunk so I was still stuck. I figured that once I had access to the trunk then I could fold the rear seats down and crawl through to retrieve the keys. I was amazed it was that easy to get into the trunk and the whole process took less than 20 seconds. The rubber plug easily goes right back in the hole. ![]() This pushed up on the carpet in the driver's footwell enough that the trunk release lever was pushed up and the trunk popped open. Then I took the handle of a hammer that I had in my car and pushed it up through the hole from under the car. The hole is about 1.5" across and the plug was very easy to remove. I looked under the car directly below where the trunk release lever is and found a hole in the floor panel covered by a rubber plug. I found a trick on the internet that is supposed to work to open the trunk without a key on any Toyota model that has the trunk release lever on the floor near the driver's seat. My daughter locked her only car key in her 2016 Corolla LE the other day. ![]()
